The team behind Brioly

Built by a Harvard University PhD student and the DATA SWEEP team, for the academic community worldwide.

Cosmin, Brioly's founder, is a PhD student at Harvard University and has studied in 5 countries so far. From every school system he's been through, he kept what really works: study a little every day, test yourself often and don't study alone. Brioly is a team effort: Cosmin and Raul, the team's CTO, have been building together since 2021.

Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes. You sign up without a card and get free coins every day to make tests, summaries, flashcards and podcasts from your courses.

The ready-made questions in communities, the mock exams and the national mock exams cost no coins at all.

How is this different from ChatGPT?

ChatGPT answers questions. Brioly prepares you for a specific exam:

• it reads your whole course, up to 500 pages, and makes tests in your exam's format (single and multiple choice, timed, scored);

• every explanation shows the page it comes from, so you can check;

• it remembers your mistakes and brings them back after one day and after three, and flashcards return right before you'd forget them;

• you get ready-made questions and mock exams for the BAC, med school admission, residency and the driving test, with a national ranking;

• you learn with others: study groups, free tests for the whole group, challenges and a monthly leaderboard.

Why does learning together matter?

Because it works better. A review of dozens of studies found that students who learn in small groups get better results, like the subject more and drop out less often than those who learn alone.

Another study, pooling 225 pieces of research, found that far fewer students fail in courses where they work actively (about 22%) than in lecture-only courses (about 34%).

That's why Brioly lets you make groups with classmates, take the group's tests for free, challenge each other and see each other's progress.

Why do tests work?

Trying to recall an answer yourself strengthens memory more than rereading. In a classic study, people who tested themselves remembered more a week later than those who reread the same text several times.

And reviewing at intervals (after a day, after three days) helps you remember much better in the long run than cramming. Brioly uses both: tests with explanations and timely review of your mistakes.

What are coins?

Coins pay for what the AI does for you: one generated question costs one coin, a summary or a flashcard set a few. You get up to 50 again every day.

When you invite a friend and they finish their first test, you both get extra coins that never expire.

Where do the questions come from?

The Brioly team writes the question banks on the syllabus topics of each exam, and a second check removes anything doubtful. They aren't the official exam papers.

Tests from your courses come only from what you upload. If you spot a wrong question, report it in one tap and we'll check it.

Does it work for my exam, which isn't on the list?

Yes. Upload your course, book or notes (PDF, photos or text) and Brioly turns them into tests, summaries, flashcards and a podcast. People use it for university exams, olympiads, CFA, GMAT and professional exams.

What happens to my courses?

They stay private: only you see them and, if you choose, your group. Your data stays in the European Union (Frankfurt) under GDPR, and you can delete a course or your whole account at any time.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, right in the browser on any phone, and you can add Brioly to your home screen like an app. The iPhone and Android apps are coming soon.

Who can sign up?

Anyone aged 16 or over: high school and university students, residents, or anyone preparing for an exam.
